Abstract
In this paper, a novel phase shedding scheme for Interleaved DC/DC converters is proposed to improve the light load efficiency. The proposed phase shedding architecture is based upon gain scheduling method to automatically tune the parameters of Power MOSFETs such as the on resistance (Rds_on) for optimization in light load efficiency with power saving. The proposed scheme is verified on 12 V input with 1.2 V output, 40 A 2-phases interleaved DC/DC synchronous buck converter and the experimental results are presented to demonstrate the theoretical analysis. The experimental results show that using the proposed scheme significant improvement in light load efficiency.
