Abstract :
The authors report on recent improvements of both operation speed and diffraction efficiency of photothermoplastic holograms which allowed one to insert two reconfigurable holograms in a free-space link with a fibre-to-fibre loss lower than 20 dB. They also discuss some of the design problems related to the realization of a system based on these devices, which would be able to interconnect two arrays of 16 single mode fibres
