            Abstract : 
The solidification process for the end cover of large ball mills has been simulated by computer, and the feeding of the riser system has been calculated with numerical dimensional temperature field. At the same time, the shrinkage or porosity has been predicted. According to the simulated results, a new process for the end cover of large ball mills has been designed and used for real manufacture to reach satisfactory quality. The total casting achieved sequential solidification, and shrinkage cavity existed completely in the riser. Therefore the perfect castings of the end cover of large ball mills are produced
