Abstract
Hybrid Multiple-input Multiple-output (MIMO) can provide two types of coding gains: temporal diversity and spatial multiple gains due to Alamouti space time block code (STBC) and mulantenna. However, increasing the spatial multiple gains comes at the expense of decreasing the temporal diversity gains, and vice versa. Bit-interleaved coded modulation (BICM) can supply spatial diversity which is one of the key techniques for transmission, and can get better coding gains without increasing the bandwidth. In this paper, BICM is utilized to be embedded into hybrid MIMO system provide spatial diversity and combine with temporal diversity and spatial multiple gains would lead to coding gains. The simulation results show when BER is below 10-4, the improved channel coding scheme can achieve about 1~2 coding gains over Rayleigh fading channels.
