Abstract :
Rüdiger Vahldieck has been one of the early pioneers in field-theoretical microwave filter design and optimization. His perspective of any multi-port as a filter has been evident in much of his later work and has led to new insights and innovative approaches in Computer-Aided Design of microwave and millimeter-wave components. Adopting Rüdiger´s view, this paper treats the Veselago/Pendry Superlens from the perspective of a filter in k-space that processes the spatial spectrum of an electromagnetic image. It provides not only a fresh look at the nature of the superlens but also allows us to incorporate the effect of losses and the dynamic behavior of image formation.
