Improving SDH radio quality performance: the WEST combiner concept and benefits for space diversity receivers

Discusses a new and effective approach to describe QAM system performance in high capacity SDH radio as a function of properly weighted power level and spectrum distortion. An efficient combiner for space diversity receivers, based on these concepts-the WESt (Weighted Evaluation Strategy) combiner-is also described, and simulation and laboratory measurements on prototypes are shown
