Abstract :
In an integrated control network, all relevant ship systems are integrated into a single ship wide data network. By means of this network, there is a direct communication path between any two components connected by the control system. In addition the number of components added into the network is irrelevant and theoretically should allow equipment types to be changed easily. An integrated control network must comply with IMO and class requirements and in fact some aspects require additional treatment because of these requirements, namely alarm handling and essential control functions which require redundancy and continuous handling from the network
