  • Abstract
    To obtain detailed wind data required for designing and operating a wind turbine set in mountain area, the authors have measured mountain wind at a wind turbine site (at a col in mountains) for 47 months since May 1989. In the present paper, the data are analyzed to determine the vertical distributions of the wind speed and wind energy, and further to examine such wind characteristics as the wind shear, gust factor and turbulence intensity. These wind characteristics are discussed from the viewpoints of designing operating wind turbines in mountainous areas
