Title :
Present status and prospects for hydro-power generation in England and Wales
Author_Institution :

Abstract :
1% of present average electrical demand in England and Wales means a generating capacity of about 500 MW. This is about five times more than existing hydroelectric capacity in England and Wales, construction of most of which pre-dates nationalisation of the industry in 1948. The purpose of this paper is to consider the energy resource not currently tapped, having regard for the factors which will determine how much of this could be developed in the foreseeable future
