Message from WoSoCER 2012 Workshop Chairs
fYear :
2012
fDate :
27-30 Nov. 2012
Abstract :
We are glad to welcome you to the 2nd International Workshop on Software Certification, WoSoCER 2012. The growing importance of software in safety-critical systems has led agencies, researchers, and practitioners to certify that software will behave safely. There are several approaches and regulations now available to ensure that software meets its safety requirements, but emerging development methods pose new challenges for certifying systems. This year, WoSoCER will shed new light on these emerging processes and new methods for the certification of software. WoSoCER features 6 papers, each one having passed three independent reviews and each one adding a valuable perspective on the challenges we face. The papers bring innovative ideas for the certification of software and share valuable experience from real-world case studies. The workshop also includes a lively panel session with researchers and engineers from both industry and academia. The workshop program features two keynote speeches, by Antonio Silva (to be confirmed) and Gabriella Carrozza, respectively. Antonio Silva is the head of electrical and avionics process engineering at AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica company, in the aerospace and defense arenas. He is also a Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) for Software (DO178B) and Complex Electronic Hardware (DO254), recognized by EASA. Gabriella Carrozza is with SESM s.c.a.r.l., the research and precompetitive development center of Finmeccanica companies. Her research specialties are the assessment of complex software systems and V&V for large critical systems, two of the key challenges for our discipline.
