Abstract :
This paper is divided into two parts, i.e. development of a 200 kW pyrolyser for biomass pyrolysis and the environmental factors which will influence its future development of biomass pyrolysis. A 200 kW batch type biomass pyrolyser has been designed and developed at University of Wales College of Cardiff for this study. The pyrolyser was lined with an appropriate refractory while the top section was insulated using ceramic fibre modules. The operating range of the pyrolyser is 80 kW to 200 kW, this making it flexible to pyrolyse different types of waste materials.
