Abstract :
This paper recommends a policy whereby Nova Scotia´s carbon dioxide emission levels could be reduced through the replacement of oil by wood and the implementation of cogeneration (i.e. electricity and district heating) systems throughout the province. The paper also discusses the potential economic benefits of this scheme, notably increased local employment and decreased dependence on foreign oil
