Abstract :
Terrain is hard to simulate and edit in a realistic and convenient way because of its complexity. In this paper, we propose and develop an interactive terrain editing method with OpenGL. Digital elevation model (DEM) is used to create terrain. And technology of terrain geometric editing and terrain texture editing is provided to modify terrain more conveniently. Meanwhile, we propose an algorithm named neighbor texture rendering to eliminate T-cracks which exist in terrain. Furthermore, we demonstrate examples of terrain editing and cracks elimination, and the simulated results show that we can model terrain quickly and edit attributes of terrain interactively.
