Abstract
The range-Doppler algorithm (RDA) is the common algorithm for a smoothly flying target in ISAR imaging, but the RDA is not suitable for manoeuvring targets. The range-instantaneous-Doppler (RID) algorithm, however, should be used in ISAR imaging when the target is manoeuvring. A new signal-component-adaptive short-time frequency estimation (SCASFE) technique is developed and used in the RID algorithm. The proposed technique is highly efficient by the use of the FFT and has no limitation on the model of the signal component. Results on real data show the validity of the technique.
