Abstract :
This paper presents the mathematical basis to optimize the recursive-least-squares (RLS) technique for real-time implementations on digital signal processors (DSPs). The proposed decoupled recursive-least-squares (DRLS) technique is optimized for real-time power system measurements, monitoring, protection, and diagnostics applications. The comparison between the proposed DRLS technique and the conventional RLS shows considerable improvement in terms of reducing the turnaround-time implementation on an off-the-shelf research and development DSP. The performance of the proposed technique has been evaluated by simulations using MATLAB-Simulink and through experiments. Selected results presented in this paper confirm the turnaround-time improvement.
