Abstract :
This paper investigates the effects of RF oscillator phase noise on the performance of both single carrier and OFDM system where M-QAM is employed. Phase noise of frequency synthesizer is analyzed by using the classical oscillator phase noise model. This paper analyzes the bit error rate (BER) of both OFDM system and single carrier system. The simulation results of relationship between phase noise bandwidth and BER performance is also presented.
