Abstract :
This paper describes two expert systems designed to assist in matching personnel to positions within a company. The first system was developed and implemented at Digital Equipment Corporation. The second is part of an on-going research project begun by the authors in 1969 involving cognitive modeling of strategic management and other management processes. A number of expert systems are being developed to aid in human resources management. One such system, the first described in this paper, has been developed and implemented at Digital Equipment Corporation to help deal with changing skill requirements for manufacturing personnel. The discussion of this system focuses on the problems of implementing KBS in large corporate environments. The second system described is in the prototype stage. It focuses on staffing a knowledge-based system development effort-specifically, making knowledge engineer assignment decisions for particular KBS projects
