Abstract :
Networking issues relating to dynamic satellite constellations (DSCs) are examined. These issues are of direct relevance to personal mobile satellite communication systems. Initially an explanation is given of the baseline DSC network architecture, upon which the network examinations were based. Two approaches to user mobility management-a GPS-type positioning approach and one based on network coverage zones-are then examined. The steps involved in network resource management are also examined. Signalling overheads and delay are the most important parameters considered
