Abstract
This paper proposes a novel position control system with torque ripple reduction for switched reluctance motors (SRMs). The drawbacks of SRMs for position control are higher torque ripple, nonlinearity between current and torque, and the double salient structure. The proposed system has a current regulator to reduce torque ripples, and the regulator can also compensate the non-linear torque-current characteristic. The system with the current regulator realizes higher precision position control at both aligned and unaligned rotor position.
