Abstract :
Following the Piper Alpha disaster and subsequent Cullen enquiry, the emphasis on offshore communications has increased dramatically. The Cullen enquiry highlighted the limitations of existing offshore communications regarding their capacity and ease of mobilisation. A satellite terminal has been developed to provide high capacity communication in the most hostile of marine environments. The terminal is fully compliant to the Eutelsat Standard 3 specifications and features excellent pointing accuracy, high reliability, comprehensive monitoring, ease of maintenance and flexibility of configuration
