Abstract :
Summary form only given, as follows. The author highlights the usefulness of the group nominal technique as an OD intervention to identify the causes of the problem and presents suggestions for improvement in the existing system of working. The technique ensures active improvement of people working within the system. The author discusses a case study of application of the group nominal technique within the TISCO Growth Shop of Tata Steel. The starting point was the findings of an attitude survey, based on which the priority problem areas and the target audience for applying the group nominal technique were identified. This technique was subsequently applied both for making diagnosis to identify the key causes and subsequently to identify the top ranking recommendation for tackling the key causes identified. The whole approach generated the energy and enthusiasm of people due to their involvement in the process of change
