Abstract
A new approach to correct the power factor of three-phase diode rectifiers is presented and discussed. Firstly, the conventional three-phase diode rectifier is properly rearranged by using three single-phase diode rectifiers. Then, power factor is corrected by using, for each single-phase rectifier, a recently introduced passive correction technique. Analyses of performances are developed with the help of PSPICE simulations and referring to both uncorrected and corrected three-phase rectifier circuits. Some considerations on the possibility to reduce additional costs and to improve efficiency of the new three-phase rectifier scheme are also developed.
