  • Abstract
British Telecom (BT) has developed a facsimile and voice band data codec for the satellite communication community. As well as producing a number of test and demonstration units of the codec, BT prepared a detailed specification for a terminal interface function (TIF) for Inmarsat to incorporate in the Aeronautical System Definition Manual. The TIF is fundamentally a set of V.21, V.27ter and V.22bis modems, a set of detectors for the modem waveform types, and synchronisation sequences. the V-series modems are designed with the aid of DSP software
