  • Abstract
An instance of a major university coming on-site at a federal laboratory (NASA Langley) to establish a full resident credit graduate program is discussed. The evolution of this program from its modest beginning in 1968 to the ongoing expansion of academic degree programs at the master´s and doctoral level, the inclusion of research grant activities, and the future plans for this partnership are presented. The master´s degree in engineering management (MEM) and management techniques in JIAFS are described. It is concluded that the interactive management approach used in the MEM program has been invaluable in assuring the success of the program
