Abstract :
This paper presents a comparative analysis of different M-ary modulation schemes for wireless ad-hoc networks based on energy efficiency. It compares MPSK, MFSK, and MQAM on the basis of total energy consumption in the AWGN and non-frequency selective slow Rayleigh fading channel. Finally under detail mathematical calculations and simulation, we justify that the energy efficiency can be improved even under a fading channel by optimizing transmission time and constellation size at a particular distance.
