Abstract :
By using satellite remote sensing images, changes of structure and spatial variation of land for construction during 2006 and 2009 were studied in Ji´an City, Jiangxi Province, China. The results show that: 1) area of the land for construction in the research zone greatly increased with an average annual growth rate of 5.55% and land for traffic had the most obvious change with 20.31% in three types of land for construction, i.e. urban and industrial land, rural residential land and traffic land; 2) extended intensity index of the whole research area was about 0.19, but in jurisdiction of Ji´an City, the index (i.e. 0.579) was far higher than other counties, which revealed the change of land for construction in the research area had very apparent spatial variation and the core extension-characteristics.
