Abstract :
The author describes how the design education sector of higher education in the UK has become very efficient and very clever at providing students with opportunities to become proficient at designing. The project method in design learning is a teaching/learning success story whose provenance is well documented. The heuristic step by step approach allows students to share and develop ideas in a nonthreatening, encouraging, self reinforcing series of progressions
