Abstract
This study surveyed approximately 350 teachers from ten universities in China. The primary purpose of the study was to explore the dimension structure of teachers´ job satisfaction (TJS), to analyze job satisfaction and to investigate the possible influence of individual-level variables upon job satisfaction. The results of this study indicated that (1) through the exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, TJS was divided into five psychological dimensions; (2) teacher satisfaction in welfare and wage is relatively low but high in interpersonal relationships and administration; (3) the significant influences of factors (gender and professional title) on welfare and wage were tested. It was significantly lower among male teachers than among female teachers. And professors were significantly higher than others.
