Abstract
The study presents switching arc features at the commutation of capacitor banks as part of the National Electrical Energetic System. The stress evaluations are based on adequate numerical programs concerning certain equipment and capacitor banks as part of the power systems. This study contains proposals and recommendations for construction, function, operation of the assembly capacitor banks-circuit breaker-network, to limit the level of stress and to raise the security function. The new elements consist in analysis and calculus (with a proper numerical program) of disturbances generated in the National Electric-Energetic System as a result of the specific transients due to switching operations of capacitor banks and especially at the multiple capacitor banks
