Abstract :
Extracting and analyzing the vegetation cover change, only depending on the manual measurement methods, which is cost larger, and it is not timely and accuracy is not high. This study using remote sensing technology, combined with GIS respectively used ratio vegetation index and normalized difference vegetation index to extract and analyze the vegetation coverage change in Jianyang city, the results indicated that the two vegetation indices had a high correlation with vegetation coverage, that can also use the ratio vegetation index to extract and analyze the vegetation change, and its overall accuracy had a bit low compared with the normalized difference vegetation index, but by their characteristics impact, vigorous growth of vegetation in summer, using the ratio vegetation index to extract the vegetation cover which the accuracy had a little high compared with using the normalized difference vegetation index to extract; Finally extracting the average annual total vegetation coverage in Jianyang city from 1996 to 2009 years, which the distribution presented open up parabola shape, it was mainly by unreasonable land use and other factors impacted, and thus put forward related suggestions.
