Abstract :
The Department of Oceanography from Space at Institut Français de Recherche pour l´Exploitation de la Mer (IFREMER) was established in 1991 just before the launch of the first European Research Satellite ERS-1. It encompasses a research team (The Laboratory of Oceanography from Space) and a French Processing and Archiving Facility, the French PAF, for the ERS data also known as Centre ERS d´Archivage et de Traitement (CERSAT). The work of the two research groups of the Laboratory of Oceanography from Space, dealing with atmosphere-ocean interaction and sea ice, is described and the future objectives are presented
