Abstract :
A review is given of recent activities undertaken in the Institute of Radio Astronomy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine for the development of millimeter-wave meteorological radars. Both, 36 GHz and 95 GHz Doppler polarimetric radars have been developed and produced. The radars are capable to perform real-time, high-resolution measurements of various parameters of clouds and precipitation. The set-up of these instruments and the signal processing technique introduced are discussed. Algorithms for an accurate realtime estimation of cloud and precipitation parameters with mm-wave Doppler radars are considered. The results obtained with the radars during measurement campaigns are presented as well.
