Abstract :
Summary form only given, as follows. It is noted that the recent explosion in cooperative behavior represents a significant change in the nature of commerce. These changes pose many problems for the management of such joint ventures, whether national or international. It appears that more joint ventures have failed than have succeeded and management practices are still developing. The authors have examined the factors which should be taken into account by management when selecting a joint venture partner to improve the performance of the resulting cooperation agreement. A British/Italian joint venture is used to illustrate the arguments
