Abstract :
It is possible to use submm radiometry for short range imaging applications where the absorption is kept low using a short signal path. An imaging radiometer with high spatial resolution operating at frequencies near 600 GHz has been built and is being used to gather experimental data on emissions from natural media. Submm-wave radiation pictures of small flat organic objects (e.g. leaves) are presented and compared to transmission images at the same frequency as well as visual pictures of the same objects. Based on these results, future enhancements and applications of an imaging radiometer operating at a submm wavelength are discussed
