Abstract :
For 31 years the ISSCC has served as the l ading forum for the presentation ofn ew ideas in solid-state circuits. To an unprecedented extent, the evolution of the semiconductor industry has been reported at these meetings. Indeed, the Conference has itself contributed significantly to the industry´s growth, providing an annual opportunity for speakers, panelists and attendees to gather and exchange views. For over two decades, an integral part of the ISSCC has been its Outstanding Paper Awards. First presented in 1962, these awards serve to recognize and encourage the highest standards of both content and presentation. They are awarded annually of the basis of a survey of the Conference attendees, and since their inception a total of 71 papers have been honored. In this retrospective we have chosen, rather arbitrarily, to look briefly at some of the outstanding papers from the first decade of LSI, 1968 through 1977.
