Abstract
In conclusion we have demonstrated that it is possible to periodically texture a metallic surface to generate a full photonic band gap for surface plasmons in the visible part of the spectrum. We can now go on study the effect of such a band gap on the quenching of dye molecules by metallic surfaces and to evaluate the potential of such structures for use in metallic microcavities
