Abstract
A straight single-line defect waveguide in a two-dimensional photonic crystal structure is considered. Network modeling as well as the transverse resonance technique is applied to obtain the dispersion curve, and consequently the field distribution of the guided modes. This method is verified by comparison with results from a simple analysis based on the reflection plane concept.
