Abstract :
A power feed equipment which feeds power to submerged repeaters in a submarine cable system, must be designed to provide a precisely controlled, transient-free operating current for a very long period. This paper describes the general features of the power feed equipment and the new power regulating system devised to achieve the required characteristics for the CS-12M submarine cable system. The power regulating system described here has features such as (1) easiness and high flexibility in redundancy design to attain the required degree of reliability, (2) superior constant current characteristic, (3) high operating stability due to multiple feedback paths, (4) good load sharing between power stages without any special and additional circuits.
