Abstract :
Lightning current withstand and voltage limiting characteristics of three kinds of transient voltage suppressor (TVS) are tested with 8/20 mus impulse current generator, and the relation between related voltage and impulse peak power is analyzed. The results show that the lightning current withstand capacity is decreasing with the increase of related voltage of TVS, and the impulse peak power can not increase the lightning current withstand capacity effectively. The limiting voltage will increase and critical voltage limiting factor will decrease with related voltage of TVS. There are decentralization characteristics on limiting voltage between different TVS of the same related voltage. The suggestion for usage and checking the insulation coordination of TVS is proposed in the paper
