            Abstract : 
This paper describes and analyses a particular class of recursive non-linear filters, which are well suited to smoothing applications, and are computationally inexpensive. We restrict our attention to l-D filtering. An application is discussed in which the simplest (first order) filter of this class is effective. Then this first order recursive non-linear filter is described and analysed. Finally, higher-order non-linear recursive smoothing filters are investigated
