  • Abstract
    In order to effectively reuse various types of design knowledge in product development, it is necessary to build knowledge management system. The contents of mechanical design knowledge include design standards, criterions, rationales, theories, product paradigms, experimental data, computational models, mechanical constraints, designers´ experiences, failure information, etc. The corresponding knowledge representation methods are described and an elaborate knowledge acquisition process is proposed. The system is built based on Web and a Chinese full text database is introduced. With Chinese natural language processing technique, knowledge reasoning methods are improved and intelligent knowledge utilization is realized. All these key technologies for the construction of knowledge management system determine the efficiency of knowledge reuse in product development.
