Abstract :
The paper describes the `SAVIOUR´ telemedicine project. This project involves an evaluation of a telemedicine system operating between a hospital in Aberdeen and a hospital in Peterhead, 40 miles north of Aberdeen. The system makes use of videoconferencing, teleradiology (transfer of X-ray data) and vital signs transfer. The project is intended to address areas in which a telemedicine system would benefit a population living or working at a site distant from specialist medical facilities
