Abstract :
To use information technology effectively as a competitive weapon, a company must identify the critical strategic issues which it intends to address. This paper presents several hypotheses about the critical issues facing globally-competing companies. Using these hypotheses, alternative directions for information systems strategies are assessed. This assessment leads to the conclusion that systems designed to support teams working on critical tasks will have the greatest strategic return to a globally-competing company
