Abstract :
The length-radius dimension and dendrite-radius dimension of transportation network in Xuzhou city are calculated based on the method of length-radius dimension, dendrite-radius dimension and the box dimension with the GIS software ArcGIS9.3, the results showed that transportation network in Xuzhou city possessed fractal characteristics, the length-radius dimension and dendrite-radius dimension were 1.4997 and 1.2401, respectively, which were slightly lower than the fractal dimension in Shanghai, Guangzhou and Nanjing. Two kind of quantitative indicators such as road network coverage and depth of coverage were introduced to reveal fractal characteristics of transportation network in Xuzhou city by calculating the box dimension of all roads in Xuzhou, the fractal dimension were 1.1959 and 1.2473, respectively, basically reached the fractal dimension of main road network planned to 2020 in our country.
