Abstract :
Many independent variables have been proposed to help `explain´ the dependent variable, MIS success. The authors describe a new approach, combining a determination of the firm´s critical success factors with its portfolio of MIS applications to create a CSF/applications grid. This grid is then used in a study of 106 apparel and textile firms in the US State of Georgia to determine the extent to which this new metric correlates with MIS success, as reported by the firms´ managers. Although the results are only modestly significant, the grid appears to offer some promise for use in future MIS success studies
