  • Abstract
For some time it has been hoped that organic materials may provide a route for possible electronic device structures. If this could be achieved then the range of structures which might be fabricated and their sensitivities to chemical or biological environments may be enormous. However ´molecular electronics´ has still not really arrived. This article highlights recent progress towards the fabrication of molecular rectifiers and draws attention to some of the problems still to be overcome if significant advances are to be made in this area.<>
