Abstract :
A new method for terrain matching is proposed, by modeling the sea bed surface as a nonstationary process with stationary increments. The stationarizing properties of a 2D separable wavelet packet decomposition are applied for deriving discriminant parameters. We also propose a method to match maps with different orientations, using a two stage position estimation algorithm
