Abstract :
Video multicast over WLAN is becoming an important application in the past few years. But traditional multimedia systems are not designed for the new characteristics that can be found in a wireless network. These can be summarised as a bandwidth variations and terminal heterogeneity, and a higher degree of packet loss rate. This paper gives an overview of challenges for multicasting video over WLAN and the related techniques to meet the requirements. Further, an overlay architecture is proposed.
