Abstract :
China is one of the countries in the world which suffer from frequent locust plagues, locusts have caused severe damage to crops and grass forage. Traditional methods of locust plague monitoring are usually inadequate to provide timely and spatially explicit locust plague outbreak information over large areas because they are based on field investigations. Compared with the traditional methods to monitoring locust plagues, remote sensing monitor has so many advantages. It is feasible for monitoring locust plagues just monitoring some important factors that impact on locust habits, such as soil moisture, land cover, climate and so on. With the development of remote sensing technology, locust plagues monitoring by remote sensing will be the main methods in the near future.
