Abstract :
Phase information of an image plays a very important role during the process of perceiving image by human eyes. So phase preserving has been proposed as a principle of image enhancement. In the paper, importance of phase information of fingerprint image is shown by an experiment firstly, and then a novel fingerprint image enhancement algorithm based on phase preserving principle is submitted. Two kinds of low quality fingerprint images are selected to testify the new algorithm, and the results show that the algorithm can improve the quality of low quality fingerprint image evidently.
